Features of the 3-in-1 Water Filling Machine

Compact Monobloc Design

The three functions (rinsing, filling, and capping) share one frame and one set of starwheels. This design cuts floor space by approximately 30% compared to separate machines and reduces conveyor transfer points, lowering contamination risk.

Rinsing with Purified Water or Sterile Air

The rinser flips each bottle upside down. Spray nozzles inject purified water or sterile air into the bottle interior. This step removes dust, particles, and residual material before filling. The rinsing medium comes from the plant's water treatment system.

Gravity and Micro-Pressure Filling

The filler uses gravity or micro-pressure filling for still water. The liquid flows from an elevated bowl into the bottle. For sparkling water, the machine uses isobaric filling to keep CO₂ in the liquid and stop foaming.

No Bottle – No Fill Sensors

Each filling position has a proximity sensor. The sensor checks for a bottle before the valve opens. If a bottle is missing, the valve stays closed. This action prevents water spills and reduces product waste.

  • 5–10 L PET Containers – Medium containers for office water dispensers and food service.
  • 5-Gallon Jugs – Large containers for home and office delivery. The 5-gallon market uses dedicated filling lines with lower speeds (300 BPH). 5-gallon jugs are often reused multiple times. The line requires stronger washing, external brushing, and leak detection compared to single-use PET bottle lines.   • If you choose a CGF 32-32-10 filler at 15,000 BPH, the water treatment system must deliver at least 15,000 LPH (assuming 1 L per bottle).
  • The PET blow molder must produce 15,000 bottles per hour.
  • The shrink wrapper and pallet wrapper must handle 15,000 bottles per hour.

By Water Type

  • Mineral Water – Requires treatment that preserves natural minerals. Use RO with mineral addition.
  • Purified Water – Requires full treatment: filtration, RO, ozone, and UV.
  • Sparkling Water – Requires isobaric filling and a carbonation unit (saturator) to inject CO₂.

What is the difference between mineral water and purified water in a bottling plant?

Mineral water comes from a protected underground source and contains natural minerals. The treatment system for mineral water uses minimal filtration to preserve these minerals. Purified water comes from any source and goes through full treatment: filtration, reverse osmosis (RO), and disinfection. The RO process removes all dissolved solids, including minerals. The bottling plant then adds back selected minerals for taste if required.

What does a water treatment system include?

Do I need a PET bottle blowing machine, or can I buy pre-made bottles?

You can choose either option. If you buy pre-made bottles, you do not need a blow molder. Your plant starts with a depalletizer or unscrambler. If you produce your own bottles, the blow molder takes PET preforms and blows them into finished bottles. Blowing on-site reduces storage space for empty bottles and lowers transport costs. Many medium and large plants choose in-house blowing for these savings.

What is the difference between a 3-in-1 filler and separate machines?

A 3-in-1 filler integrates rinsing, filling, and capping on one rotary turret. Separate machines have each function on a different frame with conveyors between them. The 3-in-1 design saves floor space, reduces conveyor length, and lowers the risk of contamination between stations. It also requires fewer operators. Separate machines offer more flexibility for custom configurations but take more floor space.

Can the same line handle both small bottles and 5-gallon jugs?

Not on the same day. Small bottles (200 ml – 2 L) and 5-gallon jugs use different filling heads, grippers, and conveyor widths. A line designed for small bottles cannot fill jugs without major changeover. We recommend a dedicated line for each container category. If you need both, we can design two separate filling sections that share the water treatment system.

How does the shrink sleeve label applicator work with the shrink wrapper?

The shrink sleeve label applicator cuts a pre-printed sleeve from a roll and places it over the bottle. The bottle then moves through a heat tunnel that shrinks the sleeve tightly onto the surface. After labeling, the bottles move to the shrink wrapper. The wrapper groups bottles into pack patterns, wraps them with PE film, and applies heat to shrink the film. The two machines serve different purposes: one applies labels to individual bottles, the other bundles bottles into multi-packs.

What is ozone treatment and why is it used in water bottling?

Ozone (O₃) is a natural disinfectant. The ozone generator injects ozone gas into the water. Ozone kills bacteria, viruses, and protozoa by oxidizing their cell walls. Unlike chlorine, ozone leaves no chemical residue or taste in the water. It breaks down into oxygen within minutes. Many bottlers use ozone as the final disinfection step before filling to ensure the water stays safe during storage.
