What is a Beer Filling Line

A beer filling line is a complete production system that fills, seals, and packs beer into glass bottles or aluminum cans.

At Modern Machinery, the line starts with empty container handling and ends with sealed cartons. The core machine is a 3-in-1 monobloc that rinses, fills, and seals. The filling method uses a vacuum principle. A vacuum pump removes air from the container before filling. This step lowers Dissolved Oxygen (DO) pickup to below 0.5 mg/L. Low DO keeps the beer fresh longer and stops stale flavors. The line also includes a pasteurization tunnel to kill yeast and a packer to group final products. We supply standalone fillers and full turnkey projects.

Vacuum Filling Keeps Oxygen Out

The rotary vacuum pump pulls air out of each bottle or can before the fill cycle. This action reduces Total Package Oxygen (TPO). Beer stored with low TPO stays fresh for more months.

Precise Fill Valves (±1 ml)

Each filling valve uses a flow meter or a level probe. The valve stops the flow when the container reaches the set volume. This precision reduces product giveaway and saves money.

No Bottle, No Fill Sensors

Photoelectric sensors sit at the infeed starwheel. If a bottle or can is broken or missing, the sensor sends a signal. The corresponding valve stays closed. This feature stops beer spills and keeps the floor dry.

Quick Changeover for Glass and Cans

Modern Machinery supplies change parts for both container types. Operators swap the grippers, starwheels, and sealing heads (crowners or seamers). The changeover takes under two hours.

Inverted Rinsing with Air or Water

The machine grips each bottle upside down. Spray nozzles blow sterile air or water into the container. This step removes dust and particles before filling.

Synchronized Discharge to Pasteurizer

The filler's exit starwheel matches the speed of the pasteurizer infeed conveyor. This synchronization prevents back-pressure and avoids bottle-to-bottle impact.

CIP (Clean-in-Place) Interfaces

All pipes, manifolds, and the filling bowl have CIP connections. The operator runs an automated cleaning cycle between production runs. This design reduces manual cleaning time.

What makes vacuum filling better for beer?

Vacuum filling removes air from the container before beer enters. This action cuts the Dissolved Oxygen (DO) level below 0.5 mg/L. Low DO stops oxidation. Oxidation causes the wet cardboard smell and cloudy appearance in old beer. Vacuum filling keeps the original taste for a longer period.

Does the same machine handle both glass bottles and aluminum cans?

Yes. The 3-in-1 monobloc accepts both formats. You swap the bottle grippers, the starwheel guides, and the sealing turret (crowners go out, seamers go in). The change takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.

How does the u0022No Bottle No Fillu0022 system work?

A fiber-optic sensor sits at the entrance of the filling turret. The sensor checks for a container at each position. If the position is empty, the sensor sends a stop signal to that specific filling valve. The valve stays closed and saves the beer.

Do I need a water treatment unit for the rinser?

No. The rinser can use sterile air, which passes through a HEPA filter. If you prefer wet rinsing, we can connect the machine to your existing purified water loop. We do not require a separate treatment plant for the rinser.

What pasteurization level does the tunnel provide?

The tunnel uses three temperature zones: pre-heating, main sterilization, and cooling. The system applies a controlled PU (Pasteurization Unit) value between 5 and 15 PU. This range kills yeast and bacteria without changing the beer flavor. The cooling zone prevents thermal shock to glass bottles.
